We always begin with the retrieval of prior knowledge, progressing through carefully sequenced lessons that build on key computing concepts. Pupils learn through modelling, guided practice, and independent application, developing core skills in programming, data handling, digital literacy, and safe online behaviour.
Our curriculum ensures that children understand not just how technology works, but also how to use it responsibly and creatively. Through practice and effort our children explore a wide range of tools and software, enabling them to create, debug, and evaluate digital content. Logical thinking, problem-solving, and computational thinking are embedded throughout, giving children the tools to become active, confident users of technology.
Online safety is a consistent priority and requires our children to build their bravery in new ways. Children are taught how to stay safe, make sensible choices online, and recognise potential risks such as cyberbullying, misinformation, and unsafe sharing. This learning is revisited regularly and age-appropriately, helping pupils to develop a strong digital awareness that supports their wellbeing and protects others.
Our approach to Computing reflects the school’s desire to
