Physical Education

At Emersons Green Primary School, our PE curriculum embodies our mission of Forging Mighty Futures by inspiring children to develop physical skills, confidence and a love of sport that will serve them throughout their lives.

  • We pursue excellence by providing a broad and ambitious PE curriculum that builds key skills such as coordination, teamwork and resilience. Our curriculum is designed to challenge every child to improve their physical abilities and strive to achieve their personal best.
  • We build bravery by encouraging children to embrace challenges in PE: whether learning a new dance movement, competing in a Boccia match, or facing setbacks during skills practice. We teach them that courage, perseverance and determination are critical characteristics for success both in sports and life.
  • Through embracing practice and effort, we help children understand that improvement comes with dedication and consistent practice. From refining a skill in football or learning to sequence routines in gymnastics, we emphasise the importance of effort and hard work to achieve growth and success.
  • Championing uniqueness is at the heart of our approach to PE. We celebrate the diversity of abilities within our school by offering opportunities for all children to participate in sports and activities, including accessible sports such as New Age Kurling, Boccia and Goal Ball. These activities enrich our school community, demonstrating the richness that diversity brings. Whether competing in the MaD Olympiad or representing the school in team sports, every child can feel valued, challenged and inspired.
