Attendance

Children’s regular attendance at school is known to positively impact on their academic and social progress. The DfE continue to advise schools to set ambitious targets for attendance. Our attendance target at Emersons is 97%.

We seek an excellent level of attendance for all children, this means that they attend school on time every day. We monitor attendance and punctuality regularly and work with SG Education Welfare Consultancy Ltd and our Local Authority and Trust Attendance Teams to promote strong levels of attendance from all families.

​Keeping all of our children safe is fundamental to everything that we do in school. We aim to work closely with parents/carers and support agencies in order to ensure that children are safe both within and outside school. We maintain a culture of ‘it could happen’ here to ensure all staff and volunteers are aware of the collective responsibility we all have to safeguard children.

Our Policies

Key systems for ensuring children are kept safe:

  • To recognise that all staff have accountability in regard to Child Protection Procedures.
  • To keep all staff informed about child protection procedures and issues.
  • To provide a clear model for management in case of suspected or disclosed child abuse.
  • To provide a model for open and effective communication between children and staff, parents, agencies and other adults working with children.
  • To help children acquire skills and attitudes to both resist abuse in their own lives and to prepare them for responsibilities including parenthood in their own lives.
  • To encourage children to make reasoned and informed choices, judgements and decisions.
  • Follow safer recruitment practices when appointing new staff.

Safeguarding

  • The Designated Safeguarding Lead in the school is Mrs Soraya Young.
  • The Deputy Safeguarding Officers are: Mrs Laura Morson and Mr Simon Botten.
  • The safeguarding governor is Jo Bishop.
