School is open for 195 days in the school year. Six days are for staff development courses (In-Service Days).

The doors open at 8.40am. There is a member of staff on the door who greets the children and helps them if they have any difficulties. Messages can be left here or at the school office. The teachers wait in the classroom to greet the children and support them with early morning activities. Registration closes at 8.50am.
Good Attendance
Regular school attendance is essential for children to not only make progress both academically and socially but also to feel settled, safe and secure. The DfE publication ‘Working Together to Improve School Attendance’ May 2022 notes that “pupils with the highest attainment at the end of key stage 2 have higher rates of attendance over the key stage compared to those with the lowest attainment..”
It is important that any absence is recorded correctly on Arbor therefore we ask that parents email the school office with information of planned absence for medical appointments etc and/or call the school office to report sickness. Taking a holiday during term time will compromise good attendance and will not be authorised. Where holidays reach the criteria of more than 10 sessions of unauthorised leave over a 7-week period, we will request a penalty notice be issued by authority.
We recognise that some pupils may find it harder to attend school than others, if your child is experiencing difficulties please speak to their class teacher in the first instance or Mrs Morson, our SENCO, so we can all work together to build trusting relationships and ensure support is in place.
Due to the importance of good attendance we will be monitoring every child closely across the year, as part of this we will be texting a termly update on your child/ren’s attendance percentage, holding formal school attendance meetings for those children considered to be “persistently absence” as defined by the DFE and insiting upon good punctuality (the gate will close at 8.50am).
