Choir

Emersons Angels is our choir for children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6.

We have rehearsals twice a week on Wednesday during assembly and Thursday after school.

Choir is a place where we encourage children to discover and develop their musical skills. Singing in a group builds teamwork and confidence, as well as boosting mental health and a sense of community. Most of all, singing together is fun!

We sing a wide variety of music including pop songs, songs from other cultures/traditions, silly songs, classical music and songs from the movies and musical theatre.

The choir has been recorded professionally at The University of the West of England, singing two songs composed especially for EGPS, to reflect the school’s identity and values.

Emersons Angels have many opportunities throughout the school year to perform in front of an audience:

School events – Harvest Festival, Christmas concert, Summer Fayre, special assemblies and our very own Musical Extravaganza concert, celebrating singers and musicians in our school.

Community events – Memory Cafés at Doynton and Patchway, Earthfest (Emersons Green Festival) and concerts with the Bristol Military Wives Choir.

Inter-school events – West of England Music Alliance Christmas Celebration at St Michael’s, Stoke Gifford and Leaf Schools Trust Concert at the Bristol Beacon, our city’s largest music venue.

Here’s what our choir members say:

  • “The best thing is singing together in a big group with my friends.”
  • “Singing together is better than singing alone.”
  • “It’s lots of fun and I love doing the performances!”

Here’s what our choir parents say:

  • “It’s helped my child to gain more confidence. They really enjoy it and are looking forward to next year.”
  • “It’s been brilliant – the Bristol Beacon was such a great experience, along with the recording studio.”
  • “What you do is incredible and the performances have been beautiful.”
